Examples of covered vaccine categories
HRSA lists seasonal influenza, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, HPV, measles-mumps-rubella (MMR), varicella, and tetanus-containing vaccine categories, among others.
This is not the complete list. The precise product and applicable program rules should be checked using the vaccination record and HRSA’s current coverage information.
- Seasonal influenza (flu).
- Tetanus / diphtheria / pertussis combinations.
- Hepatitis A and hepatitis B.
- Human papillomavirus (HPV).
- Measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR).
- Varicella (chickenpox).
Why the exact type matters
Pneumococcal conjugate vaccines are covered by the VICP; pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccines are not. If your record only says “pneumonia shot,” the formulation needs to be identified before drawing a coverage conclusion.
Shingles vaccines are outside the VICP. Varicella (chickenpox) and shingles are different vaccine categories for this purpose.
If you do not know which vaccine you received
Check the vaccination record or ask the provider or pharmacy for the vaccine name, brand, and administration date. Do not guess the formulation.
You may still make a brief initial inquiry and say that the vaccine type is unknown. The office would need more information to assess program coverage.
Coverage is not a decision about your case
A covered vaccine does not automatically make an injury compensable. The medical evidence, applicable legal standards, injury requirements, and filing deadline all matter.
Likewise, a symptom occurring afterward does not establish causation on its own. The office can discuss whether an individual review is appropriate.

General information, not legal or medical advice. Symptoms after vaccination do not by themselves establish causation or eligibility. Contacting the office does not file a claim or extend a deadline.
